We suggest renting a vehicle at the airport that is suitable for your vacation plans. A car for road travel or an SUV for any surf break hopping or more adventurous travel.
When traveling from Los Cabos, take the toll road from the airport to Cabo San Lucas, then follow the signs to Highway 19. Playa Los Cerritos is at KM 65.Take the dirt road to the beach, turn left and drive until you see the Casa Cerritos sign on the side or back fences.
When traveling from La Paz, take Highway 1 south to KM 65. Take the dirt road to the beach, turn left and drive until you see the Casas Cerritos sign on the side or back fences.
When checking in look for the following welcome sign in front of the Casitas:
Which airport should I fly to?
Both San Jose del Cabo and La Paz have airports close to Playa Los Cerritos. While San Jose has more frequent flights and is more convenient, the road from La Paz is a nice four lane that takes you directly to the beach.
Are there any services on the beach?
Close to our house is the Cerritos Beach Club which has a bar and restaurant. They offer free wifi, satellite television and live music weekly. Surfboards and other equipment can also be rented. We recommend using Mario Surf School. They also offer surf lessons for all skill levels. There are private practitioners that offer massages right on the beach. You can just walk up and make an appointment.
What kind of beach is Playa Los Cerritos?
Playa Los Cerritos is the only swim friendly beach on the Pacific side of southern Baja. It offers lifeguard services daily during the high season (November-May) and weekends only for the rest of the year. However, Playa Los Cerritos is famous for its surf breaks. In the corner is a point break that faces south. For the next 300 yards, there are a series of beach breaks that break both left and right. This beach is suitable for all skill levels so if you have never surfed before this is a great place to learn. If you already have experience, the consistent breaks will allow you to improve your skills.
Caution: consult with lifeguards regarding current conditions at all times.
“We suggest that you stop for supplies at the Mega or Soriana big box stores. It's on highway 19 as you leave Cabo for Cerritos Beach. After you do your shopping call Frank at 612 140 4627 and he will meet you at the house and check you in. We do supply drinking water”.
